Missions Will Change You

In addition to supporting missionaries through denominational agencies, First Baptist sends out missionaries directly from our congregation with the assistance of the Global Connection Partnership Network (GCPN).  We currently have two missionaries on the field.

It was the Fall of 2006 when First Baptist began setting aside funds to send out missionaries directly from our church (Direct Missionary Support).  Then in December, First Baptist banded together with FBC Plano and Cottonwood Baptist Church of Dublin to launch the Global Connection Partnership Network (GCPN). This new missions entity is assisting our church in mission sending through:

• Preparing and training our people to serve in cross-cultural settings
• Linking FBCA with a community of churches who will unite in missionary sending
• Assisting our missionaries in getting to their field of service
• Serving as the “sending branch” of our church

Cindy Wiles is serving as GCPN’s Director and Dr. Mike Stroope as its Missiological Guide. We have begun to train our first class of missionary candidates here at FBC Arlington. This is the beginning of a new day in missions in Texas Baptist life. GCPN is a church-based approach to offer churches an opportunity for partnership in a global strategy aimed at reaching the world for Christ. It is a community of churches accepting responsibility for the Great Commission.
