Semi-vowels

See updated pages at:

There are two semivowels, corresponding in sound to English "w" and "y".

The letter "w" is used in Cabécar at the beginning of words or between vowels, but the letter can "u" also be used when it occurs between another vowel and a consonant.

The second semi-vowel is written with the letter "i" either between two vowels or between a vowel and a consonant.  The letter "y" is not used since "y" is used for the English "j" sound (see Consonants).
